About Complementary Therapies
Traditional psychotherapy or “talk therapy” has proven to be helpful to many people and is an important tool in healing emotional difficulties. However, it is not the only tool. Sometimes talk can only go so far and is not able to reach the true source of the problem. This is especially true when dealing with traumatic experiences that have been held in the body over time. Complementary therapies such as guided visualization, EFT, Psych-K, Reiki, sound therapy, and relaxation techniques, when used along with traditional psychotherapy, can augment and support the healing process.
EFT
EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is a powerful and effective technique that combines mind-body medicine and acupuncture (without needles) with the result of quickly relieving emotional and physical distress and pain. Essentially, EFT is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian points are stimulated by tapping on them.
PSYCH-K™
PSYCH-K ™ is a way to balance self-limiting, subconscious beliefs using muscle testing. It is a comfortable and collaborative process in which you are assisted by the therapist in discovering and correcting perceptions or beliefs that have lived out their usefulness. PSYCH-K™ enables our subconscious mind to be brought into alignment with our conscious mind
to support our intentions for a happier, healthier, and more prosperous life.
Reiki
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that was introduced in the United States in 1938. Reiki is translated as ‘spiritually guided life energy'. Currently, Reiki is becoming a more openly accepted mode of healing. Health care workers in hospitals and clinics across the country are using Reiki as an adjunct to traditional healing methods to assist with pain reduction, acceleration of healing after surgery, and improvement in mental and emotional well being.
During a Reiki session, the Reiki practitioner uses light touch on the client. Each individual will experience the Reiki energy differently. Some people feel warmth; others have a sensation of lightness, and some actually fall asleep during the treatment. After the session, you will most likely feel a deep sense of relaxation. Other benefits that clients have reported include relief from pain, a decrease in mental and emotional stress, a feeling of increased vitality, clarity, and serenity.
Sound Therapy: Solfeggio Scale Tuning Forks
The use of tuning forks is one mode of bringing the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical facets of a person into balance using sound and vibration. It is thought that sound and its energy vibration have the potential of shifting energy patterns or releasing energy blockages in the body to allow natural energy to flow more freely. The treatment is intended to augment the body's natural healing ability and enable one to make important and necessary life changes such as releasing thought patterns no longer serving one well and moving forward on one’s path.
Each tuning fork treatment, although following a standard procedure, will be different for each client due to the fact that the tones of the forks will resonate differently with each individual. Thus, each session is personalized and accommodates the specific needs and situation of the client. Most clients report feeling lighter and more relaxed both during and after a treatment.
Reiki and Tuning Fork Sessions: $65.00 per hour
